Members Connect 4.0 - Research and Impact Post-Covid19

We are holding a ‘Members Connect’ on-line discussion via ZOOM on Tuesday 19th May from 12.00-1.00pm. This meeting will focus on questions of research and impact; and will be a further opportunity to ‘check-in’ with colleagues as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a plethora of ‘research initiatives’ with online questionnaires, storytelling and commentary in abundance from almost every corner of the sector. The outcomes from the gathering of this data are seen through a flourishing of ‘research reports’ and publications. It would appear timely to pause and reflect on the meaning and purpose of all this research, and to question its efficacy and impact? Brian Belton has written a ‘thinkpiece’ (penned prior to Covid-19) that questions the impact of youth and community work research in recent practice. We invite colleagues to read this and to browse the selection of current research activity published on the NYA Research Hub and to join our next members connect discussion that will discuss the status of youth and community work research in the context of Covid-19.

The aim of the meeting is to:

  • Discuss the status of research and its impact in the youth and community sector

  • Support one another through knowledge exchange

  • Identify future engagement and/or themes for online meeting rooms

You can join (and leave) the meeting room at any point between 12-1.00pm - please ‘announce’ yourself on arrival using the text tool; and don’t worry if this is a bit messy as we engage in new spaces.
