Gaining Insights from Practice – a call for stories from staff and students in HE

The Association are looking to curate stories from staff and students in HE that continue to highlight the contribution of staff and students across youth and community work courses throughout the UK.

This forms part of a concerted effort to highlight the ‘key work’ of youth and community workers as we continue under the shadow of Covid-19 and emerge from the other side. We invite submissions (including those already published) to build a portfolio of evidence that recognises the contributions of HEI’s (staff and students) during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Gaining insights of practice: a call for evidence

We know that Youth Work and Community Development Staff and Students have engaged in a diverse variety of work since the Covid-19 outbreak. Whilst many universities have documented this amazing work (see an example via this link), we thought it would be beneficial to have an overview of the work being carried out by staff and students across the sector and across the four nations.

Our aim is to produce a paper to highlight the role and contribution of the work taking place during Covid-19 by staff and students in HE. This is not to diminish the work many are doing in their homes, looking after children, relatives and trying to keep themselves and their families happy, healthy and safe; not an easy undertaking in itself and an area that requires additional recognition.

We know that staff and students in HE have always offered vital support to some of the most vulnerable people in society and we would like to gain an understanding of the important role we as practitioners play at this point in time and how we have creatively addressed the challenges posed by Covid-19.

Our ask: Please can you send a short overview of any work you and your students are doing (or links to evidence and stories that have already been published), and which you don’t mind being shared nationally, to hello@tagpalycw.org by Friday 17th July
