The Association is looking to curate stories from staff and students in HE that continue to highlight the contribution of staff and students across youth and community work courses throughout the UK.

A new report published today by the National Youth Agency (NYA) calls for an immediate package of support to deploy youth workers for summer activities and schools outreach.

We held our fifth ‘members connect’ online conversation on 3rd June and convened to discuss ‘Arrangements for Placements and Professional Practice in 2020-2021’. The session was very well attended with representatives from over 20 institutions plus officers from PSRB bodies across the UK (UPDATED).

The National Youth Agency (NYA) has, in consultation with Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive, developed youth sector specific advice and guidance intended for us in England. The guidance will support local providers, leaders, volunteers and young people to remain safe when engaging in youth sector activities.

We held our third ‘members connect’ online conversation on 1st May and convened to discuss the impact of Covid-19 restrictions on the teaching, support and assessment for students on youth and community work programmes across the UK. Over 15 institutions were represented in the discussion and a full summary of key issues identified in the discussion that will be shared with PSRB’s across the 4 nations of the UK is included in this article.

The National Youth Agency, in partnership with sector colleagues, have - today - published a report titled: ‘Out of Sight - Vulnerable Young People: Covid-19 Response.’ The report highlights the scale and prevalence of young people’s needs that are amplified by the pandemic.

Janet Batsleer in collaboration with colleagues from across the membership has initiated a ‘Citizen Enquiry’ to explore and document for the future what is happening for young people and for youth work and youth workers at this unprecedented time. Read more about how to get involved…

A new website targeted to offer youth work support in the form of advice, guidance and resources during the COVID-19 crisis has been launched through a cross sector collaboration. The site has been developed to provide a single point of access for youth workers and those working with young people.

In June 2018 the Labour Party launched a consultation on its vision for youth services. ‘Only Young Once’ is a product of that consultation. The full 38 page report is available via this link and draws on evidence from evidence from a wide range of stakeholders.
